“Got this for my 14 year old Westie who was having some problems going up and down the stairs. First two days he slept all day. I thought that it might just be how it works. This RestoraPet Hemp Organic Tuna Flavor oil is labeled a “feline formula.” We can only guess this is because of the tuna flavor, however, because it doesn’t appear to be any different from the other flavors in terms of ingredients. We did notice a difference in the dosing instructions between this formula and the bacon flavor, however.

The dosing instructions for this product recommend 1ml. in the morning for cats under 10 pounds and 2ml. in the morning for cats over 10 pounds.

Upon reading this, we were a little concerned because that dosage seems fairly high. This product contains 10mg of CBD per ml. There is no standard dosage for CBD in pets, but most recommendations we’ve seen start around 2mg per day. Starting at 10mg of CBD seems a little high. It’s also a little concerning that cats over 10 pounds may take twice as much – the difference in size between a 10-pound and 12-pound cat doesn’t seem significant enough to double the dose.

One thing we discovered during research is that cats don’t have as many cannabinoid receptors as dogs, so they may need a higher dose. Even so, it’s usually best to start small with new supplements to see how your cat tolerates it before increasing the dosage.

This RestoraPet Hemp Organic Bacon flavor appears to be identical to the tuna recipe above but comes in a bacon flavor. It is also labeled “for all pets and exotic animals.” The only difference we noticed between these two hemp products was in the dosing instructions.

The dosing instructions for this formula break pets down into three size categories. Pets under 10 pounds receive 1ml, pets 10 to 50 pounds receive 2ml, and pets over 50 pounds receive 3ml. The instructions also recommend giving the product in the evening, though it’s unclear why.

All RestoraPet Hemp products are made with certified organic full spectrum hemp oil along with the brand’s proprietary Vitalitrol “super antioxidant” and a few other ingredients. Their formulas are veterinary approved, non-GMO, and made in the USA.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t find any information to suggest that they’ve been tested by third-party labs. This doesn’t necessarily indicate a poor-quality product, but when it comes to CBD it’s important to test for purity. Having the product tested by a third party also gives customers peace of mind knowing the product actually contains as much CBD as the company claims.

UPDATE: After publishing this review, RestoraPet contacted us to let us know their COAs are available under the “What are the ingredients?” section in their FAQ for RestoraPet Hemp. They plan to update their website to make their third-party lab testing more prominent and accessible.

How Much Does RestoraPet Cost?

Pet supplements, especially CBD products, tend to be fairly expensive but RestoraPet is surprisingly affordable. Not only do their liquid supplements come in 2-ounce (60ml) bottles rather than 1-ounce, but their hemp CBD oils are priced at $0.15 per mg CBD retail. If you’re looking for a general wellness supplement, RestoraPet Original is about half the price of the CBD oils.

If you want to save money on RestoraPet products, your best bet is to start a subscription. You’ll pay full price for a one-time order but can save over 20% with a monthly subscription. If one bottle per month is too much, you can get one bottle every 2 months instead.

Where Can You Buy RestoraPet?

It can be difficult to find pet CBD products in stores, so it’s usually best to buy them online. The easiest way to purchase RestoraPet is to buy directly through the company’s website. Here you’ll have access to their full line of RestoraPet Original and RestoraPet Hemp products in all four flavors. You can make a one-time purchase or save 20% or more by starting a subscription.

Another option to purchase RestoraPet is through Amazon. You can shop the RestoraPet store on Amazon to browse their selection of original recipes – hemp products aren’t available on Amazon. You may not be able to find all flavors on Amazon and pricing varies.

Overall, Is RestoraPet a Good Choice?

Overall, RestoraPet seems to offer decent quality. Their products are “veterinarian approved” and their ingredients are all-natural, organic, and non-GMO. We like that the brand is manufactured in the United States and it is convenient to be able to purchase some of them on Amazon as well.

We originally weren’t able to confirm that RestoraPet has their products tested by third-party labs but after publishing this review the company contacted us with a correction. The Certificate of Analysis is available for their hemp products in the FAQ section and they will be updating their website to feature this information more prominently on the product page.

For general pet wellness, we like the promises made about Vitalitrol. It’s difficult to tell whether the supplement is truly as effective as promised, however. It seems like Vitalitrol is the star ingredient (the content in both RestoraPet Original and Hemp recipes is the same), so we’re unsure whether there is much additional benefit to be gained from their Hemp products.
