About Pure Hemp Botanicals

As the health benefits of cannabidiol or CBD become common knowledge, CBD companies are growing and expanding. Pure Hemp Botanicals was founded in 2015 and currently operates under the leadership of Hemp Master Alex Seleznov.

Pure Hemp Botanicals follows the mantra “Compassion in Action.” They believe every act of compassion helps create a better world and it’s why they product cruelty free, vegan, and sustainable products – it’s also why they support charities that are active in local and global communities. PHB seeks to provide a wide range of products for every person (and pet) to support them just the way they are.

Though Pure Hemp Botanicals offers a variety of products, their CBD hemp oil tinctures are among their most popular. These oils are made with organic hemp and are tested in-house and by third-party labs. They are scent-free and made with natural plant-based ingredients.

One thing to keep in mind about Pure Hemp Botanicals uses full spectrum hemp in their pet CBD tinctures. Full spectrum hemp contains the full range of naturally occurring cannabinoids which may include trace amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) versus isolated spectrum or broad-spectrum hemp which does not. PHB comments the following:

“Even though the Pet CBD Tincture shows its effects immediately, rest assured that this product is non-psychoactive and contains less than 0.3% THC. Like all of our products, CBD Tincture is always vegan, cruelty free and non-GMO.”

Sourcing And Manufacturing

When it comes to CBD products, it’s important to determine the quality and safety before you purchase. Though CBD products can be expensive, it’s not worth risking your cat’s health to save a few dollars. Pure Hemp Botanicals uses the highest quality cannabidiol made from Colorado-grown industrial hemp. Their tinctures are made using whole-plant extraction methods which results in a quick-absorbing, full spectrum tincture with a smooth, natural flavor.

Not only does Pure Hemp Botanicals go above and beyond simply saying their hemp is grown in the USA, but they specify that their products are grown, processed, and packaged in Colorado. All of their products are tested both in-house and by third-party labs for purity and safety.

What Kind of CBD Products Does Pure Hemp Botanicals Offer?

Pure Hemp Botanicals is more than just a CBD company. Though the majority of their products contain CBD, their ultimate goal is to support the health and wellness of both people and pets. They also aim to protect the environment by keeping their products vegan, non-GMO, and cruelty free.

Here are some of the product categories PHB has to offer:

  • CBD oil tinctures
  • Vegan soft gels
  • Body lotion
  • Cooling gel
  • Lip balms
  • Flavored mints
  • Immune support supplements
  • Hemp tea

Though Pure Hemp Botanicals offers a wide range of products for people, we focused on their offerings for pets to complete this review.

Pure Hemp Botanicals offers three different CBD oil tinctures for pets. The 300mg concentration is formulated for small dogs and cats while the 750mg and 1,500mg tinctures are for large dogs. All three are derived from 100% organically grown industrial hemp, tested both in-house and by third-party labs. These products contain less than 0.3% THC and are held to the highest standards for quality and safety.

What Do Customers Think of Pure Hemp Botanicals CBD?

When shopping for pet products, it’s a good idea to do your research to ensure you purchase from a reputable company and end up with a quality product. The trouble with pet CBD products is that you can’t just walk into your local pet store and expect to be able to talk to a store associate about it. With supplements like CBD, it’s even more important to some research about the company and how they source and manufacture their products.

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to find a lot of reviews of Pure Hemp Botanicals, especially their pet products. We have, however, accumulated a few comments from customers regarding their experience with the brand and in using their CBD oil tinctures for cats:

“I used the tincture oil on my 1 year old cat, who was diagnosed with mouth cancer… the vet told me to put her to sleep cause there was nothing they could do. I ordered this oil, and a month later her tumor shrunk down to nothing! The vet couldn’t believe it. To this day she is now completely cancer free because of the tincture oil. Her tumor was about the size of a quarter and shrunk down to nothing!”- Samantha Korman reviewing 300mg Pet CBD Tincture

“This company deserves the highest rating in quality of products and customer service.  My 16 year old mini poodle has had seizures for a long time.  My daughter recommended this company to me.  I ordered some pet tinctures and now my pet has less seizures and seems to be even more pain free. Integrity is important to me, Pure Hemp Botanicals is a blessing to anyone who uses their products.  They strive for excellence.  If a problem arises, they are quick to fix and make the customer happy.”- Nadine Pearson reviewing 300mg Pet CBD Tincture

“We’ve been giving the tincture to our cat that has feline leukemia and hyperesthesia and this helps him so much! Feline hyperesthesia gives him painful/annoying restless legs and this product calms his legs and gives him relief!”- Jessie Schmidt reviewing 300mg Pet CBD Tincture

#1 Pure Hemp Botanicals 300mg Pet CBD Tincture

Shop Pure Hemp Botanicals 300mg Pet CBD Tincture Now!

This 300mg CBD tincture comes in a 30ml. (1-ounce) bottle. The label claims it contains 10mg of cannabinoids per serving, which we assume is measured at 1ml. Though we understand why the product is measured this way, it doesn’t really make sense for cats.

First and foremost, a 1ml. serving of CBD oil is fairly large, considering the size of the average housecat. Using the dosing instructions on the product itself, 1ml. is the recommended dosage for a 40-pound pet. The label starts at 20 pounds for dosing instructions, recommending 0.25 to 0.5 droppers or 2.5mg to 5mg of CBD per day. This can be a little misleading and could result in confusion for pet owners.

When it comes to the product itself, however, we were very pleased with the quality. We love that Pure Hemp Botanicals is so open about where their hemp is grown and how thoroughly it is tested.

In testing this CBD oil tincture, we found the company’s claims to be accurate in terms of flavor and scent. The oil itself had little discernible odor and virtually no taste. The dosing instructions don’t specify exactly how to administer the oil, but we imagine if you’re dropping it directly into your cat’s mouth it wouldn’t be a bad thing for it to be flavorless.

Cons

  • Dosing instructions not specifically for cats
  • May be tricky to administer small doses

#2 Pure Hemp Botanicals 750mg Pet CBD Tincture

Shop Pure Hemp Botanicals 750mg Pet CBD Tincture Now!

This 750mg CBD oil tincture comes in a 30ml. bottle as well and the label says it contains 25mg per serving of cannabidiol. The label also specifies that the product is designed for large dogs.

Unfortunately, we were unable to gauge the dosing instructions for this formula because we only received the 300mg concentration for testing. Pictures of the label on the PHB website are a little blurry and don’t zoom in well enough to read the label clearly. It looks like the instructions are broken down into three weight categories, perhaps starting at 50 to 75 pounds.

Though we weren’t able to test this formula, we imagine it is similar in terms of flavor and scent. The label describes it as “unflavored” like the previous formula.

Pros

Cons

  • Not recommended for cats

#3 Pure Hemp Botanicals 1,500mg Pet CBD Tincture

Shop Pure Hemp Botanicals 1,500mg Pet CBD Tincture Now!

This 1,500mg CBD oil tincture comes in a 30ml. bottle as well and the label says it contains 50mg per serving of cannabidiol. The label also specifies that the product is designed for large dogs.

Again, we were unable to gauge the dosing instructions for this formula because pictures of the label on the PHB website are a little blurry. At 50mg/ml. however, we imagine the recommended dosage would be measured in drops rather than ml. Like the previous product, however, the dosing instructions appear to be broken into three weight categories, presumably starting at 100 pounds.

Like the previous two formulas, this CBD oil tincture is described as unflavored and we imagine it is the same as the 300mg concentration we tested in that regard.

Ingredients

Hemp seed oil, hemp extract.

Pros

Cons

How Much Does Pure Hemp Botanicals Cost?

When shopping for CBD products, you’ll find the cost varies from one brand to another. If you’re going to compare brands or products, what you really need to look at is the concentration of the tincture and the price per mg of CBD. Pure Hemp Botanicals offers three different concentrations for pets.

We were a little surprised to find that PHB’s products were among the most cost-effective of the brand’s we’ve reviewed. Their lowest concentration (300mg) averages to about $0.08 per mg of CBD and their highest concentration (1,500mg) is only around $0.05 per mg of CBD.

To add to the savings, you can sign up for the Pure Hemp Botanicals Pure Rewards program. You’ll receive 20 bonus points when you become a member and then you’ll earn points each time you shop. Your points accumulate for each dollar you spend, and you’ll receive extra points on your birthday and each time you leave a review. Points can be redeemed for discounts on your next purchase.

Where Can You Buy Pure Hemp Botanicals?

One of the challenges with pet CBD products is that most pet stores don’t carry them. You may be able to find them in specialty pet stores, depending what state you live in, but your best bet is probably to shop online. Pure Hemp Botanicals makes it easy to shop their online store, but they are one of the few brands we’ve reviewed that also sells their products in certain retail locations.

You can find the nearest PHB retailer using the location finder on the website. In testing out various zip codes, we found several retailers ranging from vape shops and natural food stores to specialty pet stores. Pure Hemp Botanicals ships to 49 states including Hawaii and Alaska – they do not ship to Louisiana and some products aren’t available for distribution or sale in California.

Overall, Is Pure Hemp Botanicals A Good Choice?

When it comes to CBD products, it’s clear Pure Hemp Botanicals knows what they’re doing. They are very open with customers about the sourcing of their hemp and we love that their products are vegan, cruelty-free, and non-GMO. We also appreciate that they have a wide range of products for humans as well as pets – this helps add to the brand’s credibility.

The biggest issue we have with PHB products relates to their dosing instructions. They only offer three concentrations and two of them are labeled for large dogs. The 300mg concentration seems to be the best option for cats, though the label is a little misleading.

It mentions 10mg per “serving” which, according to the website, is 1ml. If you check the dosing chart, however, you’ll see that 1ml. is the recommended dose for pets weighing 40 pounds.

Overall, we don’t have any qualms about the quality of Pure Hemp Botanicals products. It does seem, however, that their pet CBD tinctures are not as well thought-out as they could be. It’s very likely the product is identical to one of their tinctures for humans and they didn’t think too much about the fact that pets need a much smaller dose due to their size.

If you’re looking for a high-quality product and you’re willing to do some math on your own, Pure Hemp Botanicals is an affordable choice. If you want a product with clear dosing instructions, however, you may need to look elsewhere until they make updates.
