If you have cats then you probably also have a wide range of pet hairs, odors, and dander. You may even suffer from allergies from being around your furry friends. An air purifier could ease your symptoms and clear the air.

With so many air purifiers to choose from you maybe wondering which air purifier is best for removing contaminants that contribute to allergies, odors and other things.

Okaysou is a new company that is now manufacturing air purifiers. The Okaysou AirMic4S H13 Medical Grade Air Purifier is one of their budget friendly air purifiers that is compact and has a very nice design.

Set-up

Setup is very easy being that there are few parts in the box. Once we un-boxed the purifier and removed all packaging, we opened the bottom of the unit which holds the filter in place. Then we removed the filter and unwrapped it from the plastic it was packaged in. Next we replaced the filter and re-attached the bottom lid.

Once all that was done it was ready to go and we plugged it in. Then we selected a preferred fan speed, but there are other options like, set the timer, adjust the back lights or put it in sleep mode.

Design

The Okaysou AirMic4S H13 is 14.7 inches high and 7 inches wide, weighing in at 7.95. But that weight delivers an awful lot of performance. The outside is constructed from white ABS plastic, divided by a black band through the middle. This  is where the unit comes apart for easy filter access.

There are two rows of intake vents, which are located on both sides of the unit. These vents are designed to keep large particles like animal hair from getting sucked into the filter and clogging it up.

Inside the Okaysou AirMic4S H13 there is a pure copper motor that is quieter and more efficient than a standard brushed or brush-less motor. It drives a 12-vane fan, which sits near the top and sucks air up through the unit. The motor stays clean and cool because it sits on top of the fan and filtered air flows over it.

Features

The control panel on top of the Okaysou AirMic4S H13 includes a central power button and 5 additional settings. There are also LED lights under the control panel that illuminate a glowing blue hue. It is equipped with three fan speeds and a 3-interval timer,as well as a timer, which can be set to 2, 4, or 8 hours using the timer button. The sleep mode will run the fan at the lowest possible setting and automatically dim the lights.

There is a filter button that lights up when the filter needs changing. Once the filter is changed and it is pressed, the Okaysou AirMic4S H13 will reset the filter timer.

It purifies rooms as large as 237 square feet using both a HEPA and Active Carbon filters. It has no ionizer, neither does it produce any UV-C light to emit any byproducts or ozone.

Filtration System

The filter on the Okaysou AirMic4S H13 is a medical-grade HEPA filter that can remove 99.97% of airborne particles down to 0.3 microns. This is helpful for people with asthma, or who suffer from allergies. It also cleans air particles, such as dust, pollen, pet dander and hair, smoke, household odors, harmful gases like formaldehyde or ammonia.

The filter sits inside the bottom half within a double sponge sealing strip, which surrounds the top and bottom edges of the filter. This strip keeps air from leaking around the sides of the filter forcing it all through the filter.

The Okaysou AirMic4S H13 filter is made for a room the size of 240 square feet or smaller. In a room this size it can cycle the air about three times in an hour, but for better performance, they recommend it be used in a 144 square feet, or a 12-foot by 12-foot room.

Odor Control

We tested the Okaysou AirMic4S H13 in a room ( approximately 12 by 12 feet) where our animals spend most of their time. The room doesn’t smell bad usually but it does sometimes smell of dogs and cats. After running the air purifier for about six hours, the room smelled like no animals had been there at all, especially the dog.

Next we tested the Okaysou AirMic4S H13 in the utility room where we keep the cat litter box. This room is small ( approximately 6 by 9 feet) and the litter odor is often strong. Upon placing it in the room it took about 5 hours for the hint of a litter smell to disappear entirely. After running the air purifier for two days there was no evidence of a litter box existing.

Pros

  • The filter can be cleaned every 2-4 weeks for renewed efficacy
  • 5 year warranty
  • Three-setting timer
  • Back lit LED display for easy operation

Cons

  • No way to lock in setting preferences
  • Filter cost is somewhat higher than competitors
  • Only good for smaller rooms

Conclusion

The Okaysou AirMic4S H13 comes at a reasonable price and is great for smaller rooms. It is an easy to use and attractive little machine with nice features like sleep mode and back lighting. Most importantly it works on pet odors and ridding the air of 99.97% of airborne particles down to 0.3 microns, This can make life with pets so much easier for people who suffer from allergies and asthma.
