My 12 year old Maine coon mix Josephine has started vomiting up her breakfast. This is happened now for two days in a row. While I’m used to this happening maybe monthly or less due to hairball or perhaps constipation issues, i’ve never experienced it two days in a row. She gets the same exact food for dinner and never has a problem with it then. We’ve been giving her the same food— raw diet Small Batches for years now. Her sister Violet gets the exact same food and is not having an issue with it either so I don’t think the food is bad. After she vomits her breakfast she seems very hungry for more so I’ll give her some baby food which she’ll keep down just fine. She is happy and purring after the fact so I’m confused as to what could be causing the problem.

Anyone experience something similar?

Hi @Jannaeo,

Sorry to hear that Josephine has been vomiting up her breakfast. There are many different causes for vomiting in cats, from a mild tummy upset to more serious illnesses, so I would recommend booking an appointment with your vet if she is still vomiting after 24 hours. In the meantime, you can also try feeding her small amounts of bland low-fat foods (your vet will be able to recommend a suitable diet, or you can try cooked chicken or white fish).

I hope this has been helpful and do let us know how you get on.

Kind regards,

Dr. Ellen Marcinkiewicz BVSc. MRCVS
